Happy Monday Crafty Friends!

I hope this post finds you well and you have had a lovely weekend!

It is a bit of a grey and blustery start to the day here up't North but i am hoping i will get some washing on the line a bit later.

I am super excited to share today's blog post with you.. this was a request by one of my lovely customers and friends but i thoroughly enjoyed doing it as Orchids are very special to me. Being a Florist i love lots of flowers and plants but Orchids really make me smile.. they signify for me love and celebrations!

We have lots of lovely new member's to our facebook group that have asked for a few simple card ideas suitable for posting so i am working on these as well as some of our fancy cards so please stay tuned

The topper sheet is Today's New Download

It contains:

  • 3 x Toppers
  • 1 x Tag
  • 6 x Sentiments

and you can find it on the website here - https://shop.obyd.co.uk/b/Hz71A

Here is the card:

I hope you like this little time lapse video i put together of me making it - just click on the red play button in the centre of the picture OR you can watch it on youtube here:

The sheet was printed onto some watercolour card as i really like the texture that it gives to the design.. i thought it was "fitting" for this style of card.. don't worry if your printer cant take card it will print perfectly onto a nice super smooth bright white paper my favourite is a nice 160gsm

This topper on the sheet has been been mindfully placed so it has a lot of white space around it giving you more options of how to cut it out - sure, you can just use your trimmer or scissors but i wanted to make sure that there was enough space to cut this out with any dies or shape cutters you would like to use which is why it has no frame or border to the artwork.

The embossing folder i used is from Spellbinders and it can be found here:

For the UK - https://amzn.to/3Wd9k7w

For US Customers - https://amzn.to/3UlbvmR

This has become my favourite embossing folder this week i have been using it lots so you will see this background design popping up quite a bit

The sheet of pale green pearl card was in my stash loose i think it was from Creative Expressions

My guilltone is from Tonic it is my trusty old work horse - you can take a peek to my favourite tools section in my amazon store front here - https://amzn.to/3UD7DPC

The guillotine can be found here: https://amzn.to/3UD7DPC

The mirror card is from Hunkydory

My adhesives i used for this card is my tape pen and foam pad tape - you can find them in my Adhesives and Glue Category in my Amazon store front here: https://amzn.to/4dkVLc8

I love adding sparkle and texture, working in the Craft Industry and being a card maker and seller.. i always look for ways to increase the perceived value of the card.. just because it is "flat" to go in the post doesn't mean it can't be blinged up.

Cardmaking toppers that had foiling or flittering detail could always command a higher price so naturally that means i charge more for cards that have a "special finish"

I love creating my own glittery finish by using glitter glues

In the video i use stickles - you can find some on amazon here: https://amzn.to/3JAr850

The pink glitter glue bottle is from Dovecraft i picked this up in The Range

I used used my Ranger Liquid Pearls to create some little pearl dots to create a bit of texture. I have a liquid pearls section in my Amazon store front here - https://amzn.to/44gjqXj

Top tip - when i post cards that have embellishments on i cut a small sheet of paper ever so slightly smaller than the size of the card. This sits on top of the card to protect the embellishment and the envelope in transit as sometimes the embellishments can poke through the embellishment.
